Mmmmm Turkey

Merhaba! (Hello)
So far Turkey has been wonderful! We crossed over from Rhodes almost two weeks ago and have been exploring the Mediteranean coast ever since. Most of it is pretty touristy but the people are overwhelmingly friendly. Usually this is because theyre trying to get you into a store or something.. but still they go way out of their way to do so.
One highlight was the time we spent in a place called Olympos. Its the sight of an ancient Lykian city and even though at this point were a bit ruined out, it was still spectuacular. Everything is hidden in the forest and you can wander around and get lost (almost) in the ruins and sarcophogi! We stayed in a treehouse hostel (though we got a cabin cuz it was cold) and ate delicious buffet style Turkish meals. We even got to witness a scary Russian cult who were awaiting their spaceship (no joke). Luckily they did not spike the buffet, though they seemed to be on drugs most of the time. I have to say I enjoyed their drum circles a bit.
Now were in a city called Antalya. Its a really beautiful city, but for us it has been particularly great because we arranged to stay with a family here through hospitality club. The family was sooooooooooooo great. They fed us the most amazing Turkish breakfast full of organic and delicious food, taught us to make Turkish coffee and then even read our fortunes in the grinds (pretended to... but very theatrically). They then plied us with snacks (like roast chestnuts and pomegranites) and tea and we had many fun and interesting conversations. They were celebrating a friends wedding this weekend so we got to hear all about the celebrations and different customs as well. Anyways it was a truly amazing opportunity for us. I hope they enjoyed having us as much as we enjoyed staying with them.
So thats all for now. I hope life continues to go well for everyone at home!!! See you all soon!
